A cheaper PAM flocculant is not a qualified replacement simply because the ionic family and powder appearance match. A supplier change should preserve treatment performance, preparation reliability and a traceable product identity. Request candidates against the actual duty and define what counts as equivalence before comparing prices.
Build an incumbent reference
Retain an identifiable sample of the currently approved product and record its lot, stock concentration, preparation water and solution age. Run it beside each candidate on the same feed. Historical results from another day are a weak control when solids or chemistry fluctuate. Record the operating dose on an active-polymer basis and document how that basis was established. If the existing product data are incomplete, describe the operating result honestly instead of inventing a molecular-weight or charge specification.
Compare the whole treatment response
Use a dose range rather than one convenient setting. Compare overflow or filtrate quality, solids capture, underflow or cake condition and throughput as relevant to the installed separator. Include preparation behaviour and the tendency to leave undissolved material. A replacement that gives attractive beaker floc but requires impractical solution strength may be unsuitable for the existing dosing system. The total treatment cost guide explains why a lower purchase price can lose its advantage after dose and operating costs are included.
Control the first production changeover
Do not mix the incumbent and candidate in a make-down tank merely to simplify the switch. Agree a clean changeover method with operations and the equipment supplier, with sufficient approved stock available if the trial fails. Identify the candidate containers and isolate its solution line where practicable. Advance from controlled comparison to a limited plant trial, then assess the representative operating range. A single successful quiet-shift run is not evidence that the new grade tolerates peak feed or difficult water.
Define approval and rejection in advance
The purchasing record should state the candidate identifier, tested dose window, preparation procedure and application acceptance criteria. Preserve the result with the approved supplier and lot traceability requirements. Distinguish a commercial decision from technical approval: purchasing can negotiate a quotation while operations still withhold release. When acceptance is conditional, spell out the untested condition. For the underlying charge and equipment screen, use PAM selection by charge, solids and equipment.
Purchase review worksheet
Complete the evidence column with measured values, observations or an agreed document reference. An unanswered item is a reason to clarify the sample or quotation, not to assume that two products are equivalent. Keep the same worksheet with the trial record so the purchasing and operating teams approve the same conditions.
| Review item | Evidence to obtain | Decision before ordering |
|---|---|---|
| Reference sample | Incumbent identity, lot and preparation record | A reproducible baseline exists |
| Treatment response | Active-dose curves and relevant separator results | Candidate meets the agreed operating window |
| First delivery | TDS, SDS, lot COA and retained sample | Shipment matches the approved identity |
Request a focused PAM flocculant quotation
Send the feed source, solids concentration, pH or conductivity, operating temperature and separator type alongside the monthly quantity, package preference and destination. Include the specific observations in the worksheet above. If a current grade is being replaced, provide its available technical data and the active dose rather than only the trade name. Commercial availability, sample quantities and delivered terms should be confirmed for the selected product, not inferred from an illustrative application.
Arrange the comparison through the PAM trial planner and review quality documents and supply requirements before committing to a shipment. Gongyi Xinqi Polymer Co., Ltd. can review the application information and discuss a suitable sample range. Application suitability remains conditional on representative testing; a polymer recommendation is not a guarantee of plant performance or regulatory compliance.
